I was just playing some maplestory (mmorpg - I’m a complete fucking nerd, I know) when I mentioned my real life girlfriend in a conversation with one of my new buddies. We went through the usual spiel “Oh, you’re a guy?” “No.” “But girlfriend…?” “I’m a girl that likes girls. I hope that isn’t a problem..?” “No, of course not.”

But 5 minutes later, “I hope everything works out for you in the real world :D”

…. Wait, what? I thanked her, because I know that she was trying to be nice, but who would ever think to say that to a straight person after learning that they were straight? I didn’t imply any issues with my relationship whatsoever, didn’t mention any hate crime or cruelty or anything, so… wat.
