My dissertation is being such a bitch right now

And hell, this is never going to be made, so I might as well explain it to some degree (leaving out the explosions and the gang warfare and the murder mystery aspect, of course)

Ugh

Man, I just wanted to write about lesbians in the 1920s and address the fact that time travel narratives only ever have straight men going back in time and having essentially the same social status and privilege in society and man, wouldn’t it suck if you were a PoC or a woman or gay?

Plus, time travel films always seem to give the traveler the chance to go home or, if they stay, it’s their decision to stay - wouldn’t it suck if you were trapped in another time forever and you had to completely readjust your life and the privileges you might have been taking for granted and then you have to live through shitty events that you know are coming but you have no chance of changing or stopping them?

After my film is over, Jules doesn’t get to go home - she has to live through the fucking Great Depression and WWII and the McCarthy Era and hell, that’s provided that she isn’t one of the 700+ gang war casualties that happen in the Chicago area before Prohibition is over in 1933

Oh, and the woman she loves dies

If anyone is curious, though, I got overwhelmingly positive responses and the people that I worried about ended up being cool with it, even though their messages insinuate that they are praying that I will ‘get better and get married to some very-fertile clean-shaven dudebro with a serious love for the big man upstairs so we can spit out fifty thousand god-fearing straight kids’ anyway.

That was 3 or 4 out of the 15 members of my family that have facebook though, so…

I’ve sent my email. Signal boost, guys. Please, just take some time and e-mail Tumblr about taking this person down - they have posted addresses, full names and links to their tumblrs with the intent of shaming and outing these people. If you don’t want to click the link, it basically says that they have thousands of addresses and names that they intend to send to anti-LGBT+ groups in the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand and Australia so they can harass them.

Please, just pass this on - it is really important, and incredibly disgusting. I don’t know how we can stop her from sending out that information to the anti-LGBT+ groups, but it is worth trying to pull her off of tumblr before any other miserable human beings utilise her sources and harass the people that she is trying to ‘name and shame’.
